2 more Travis County sheriff's office employees test positive for COVID-19, officials say

Two more employees at the Travis County sheriff's office recently tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said Monday.
The two employees were from the agency's corrections bureau, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office did not specify whether the employees were civilian staff or correctional officers.
A total of 264 employees at the agency have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, since the start of the pandemic, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office on Monday did not report any new positive coronavirus cases among its inmate population. The agency has reported 323 coronavirus cases among people who are housed at Travis County jails since the start of the pandemic.

Of the 1,492 people who were being housed at Travis County jails on Monday, none was in the quarantine area specifically for those who have tested positive for the coronavirus, the sheriff's office said. People who are in the confirmed-positive quarantine unit get two medical checks each day, according to authorities.
Inmates showing symptoms of COVID-19 are placed in single-occupancy cells in a separate quarantine unit, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities on Monday said five inmates were in that quarantine unit.

Also as part of its coronavirus measures, the county jail houses all newly booked inmates in single-occupancy cells in isolation for 10 to 14 days, the sheriff’s office said, adding that 286 inmates are going through the isolation period.
