BRIEF: Public health town hall scheduled for Saturday

July 26--ALBANY -- Ward I Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard will host a town hall meeting on Saturday at 10 a.m. The meeting will cover public health issues during the spring and summer months, particularly how to defend against the Zika and West Nile viruses.

James Davis, director of environmental health and county manager will address the following:

-- What is Zika/West Nile virus?

-- How does a mosquito transmit Zika?

-- How might Zika cause brain damage in infants?

-- How does West Nile virus spread?

-- How do you know you've been infected?

-- What are symptoms of West Nile virus?

The meeting will take place at the East Albany Community Center located at 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.
