Patriot-News - 11/15/2017

Nov. 15--Just in time for Thanksgiving, Giant Food Stores has issued a notice regarding a frozen corn recall.

The chain announced Nov. 15 it removed from sale its Giant/Martin's Brand Frozen Whole Kernel Sweet Corn due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The following product is included in this recall:

--GIANT/MARTIN'S Brand Frozen Whole Kernel Sweet Corn, 16 oz., UPC 68826700676 with a Best By Date of Oct-2019

Giant said it has not received any reports of illnesses.

However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.

Customers who have purchased this product are urged to discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to Giant for a full refund.

Shoppers who would like more information can call Bonduelle at 877-990-2662 or Giant/Martin's Customer Service at 888-814-4268. Or visit GIANT website.
