BRIEF: Weld County closes Dacono hazardous waste facility for water line replacement

Greeley Tribune - 8/1/2017

Aug. 01--The Dacono household hazardous waste disposal facility has been closed due to a major water line break, according to a news release from the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment.

The entire water line will be replaced, and it may take up to three weeks, according to the release. The county has operated the facility without water for a month, but that makes it unsafe for employees to handle and process hazardous materials, the release stated. The facility is located at 5500 Colo. 52.

Until the Dacono facility reopens, the county will open the Greeley household hazardous waste disposal facility for an extra day each week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. The Greeley facility, 1311 N. 17th Ave., also will continue to operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays.

To learn more, go to http://www.weldhealth.org or call the health department hotline at (970) 400-2233.
