BRIEF: RECALL: Ohio company recalls pepperoni product

June 05--An Ohio company is recalling nearly 3,00 pounds of pepperoni product that may be contaminated.

P&S Bakery Inc., based in Poland, Ohio, is recalling the pepperoni product that may be contaminated with "extraneous materials," specifically clear meat casing utilized in food production.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture'sFood Safety and Inspection Service announced the frozen, ready-to-eat, beef and pork pepperoni roll item was recalled. The items were produced on March 29, and the item was shipped to distributors and retail locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The problem was discovered after the firm received consumer complaints through one of their distributors. There have been no reports of injury or illness from consumption. The product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Product details include:

--The product subject to recall bears establishment number "EST. 27274" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

--5.25-oz. clear plastic wrapped packages containing 1 piece of Gia Russa brand "DOUBLE STUFFED Pepperoni Roll PEPPERONI & MOZZARELLA," with lot/case code 17088
