BRIEF: Durham County announces Labor Day closings

Aug. 27--DURHAM -- Durham County Government will close most offices for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5.

All county offices will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The Board of County Commissioners has rescheduled its Monday work session to 9 a.m.Sept. 6.

The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on Sept. 5.

The county's roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule B, normally serviced the week of Sept. 5 will not change.

All locations of the Durham County Library will be closed Sunday and Monday, Sept. 4-5.

For public health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health's response team member on-call.

The Durham County Department of Social Services will close its offices Sept. 5. While offices are closed, residents should contact an on-call social worker by calling 911 to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect.
