BRIEF: Large Kraft Singles packages recalled

Charlotte Observer (NC) - 8/3/2015

Aug. 03--The Kraft Heinz Company is voluntarily recalling 3- and 4-pound packages of its Kraft Singles, individually wrapped cheese slices, because of a choking hazard.

A packaging defect means that a small strip of plastic could stay on the slice when it's unwrapped. Since the plastic is clear, it will be hard to see and could cause a choking hazard. The company has received at least 10 consumer complaints and three reports of people choking.

The recall applies to the large-size packages of American and White American pasteurized cheese product with the Best Used By date between Dec. 29, 2015 and Jan. 4, 2016, followed by the manufacturing code S54 or S55.

The recall involves 36,000 cases of the cheese that were sent all over the U.S., Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman. No packages were sent to Canada.

If you have one of the packages, return them to the place of purchase for a refund or contact Kraft at 1-800-432-3101.
