BRIEF: Grand Forks mayor selects new assessor, public health director

April 18--Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown announced Friday that Paul Houdek has been chosen to serve as the new city assessor, and Debbie Swanson has been selected as the new public health director.
Swanson formerly served as the nursing and nutrition supervisor since 1996. She assumed the duties of the director's position on March 16. She began her career with the city in 1985.
Houdek, who began work in his new role March 16, was formerly the deputy city assessor. He has been employed in the city's assessing department since 2006.
