BRIEF: Cat food recalled due to salmonella concerns

St. Cloud Times (MN) - 1/24/2015

Jan. 23--The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is alerting consumers about a recall of frozen cat food that could be contaminated with salmonella.

The Purr-Complete Feline Poultry Meal, produced by Oma's Pride of Avon, Connecticut, was distributed nationwide, including Minnesota.

The department says there is a human risk of contracting salmonella from handling contaminated products or from contact with infected pets. No illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who purchased the cat food should immediately stop feeding it to their pets and either dispose of it or return it to where it was purchased for a refund.
