BRIEF: Tripler Hospital to conduct Ebola response training

Honolulu Star-Advertiser (HI) - 10/30/2014

Oct. 29--Tripler Army Medical Center and the U.S. Army Health Clinic-Schofield Barracks are scheduled to conduct an Ebola virus disease training exercise Wednesday "as part of efforts to increase preparedness and safeguard the community," Tripler said.

Training will be conducted with local medical community partners "as part of a coordinated effort to exercise existing comprehensive plans and processes, such as immediate action tasks, proper use of appropriate personal protective equipment and review of infection control protocols," the military hospital said.

Personnel and equipment involved in the training may be visible on the grounds of Tripler outside the main hospital and within the facility.

The initial exercise is designed to rehearse capabilities internally and in conjunction with key community partners, Tripler said in a release, "and is currently closed to external media in order to maintain participant focus and to protect the privacy of patients in the vicinity."
